BecomingX pilots Beacon with 150 mentors from Deloitte and Wise
At BecomingX, we believe in the power of mentorship to change lives. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce the successful pilot of our new app, Beacon, with over 150 mentors from Deloitte and Wise. Beacon is designed to empower refugees by connecting them with critical resources, services and personal mentors to help them rebuild their lives in their host countries.
Through Beacon, mentors from Deloitte and Wise have provided career advice, skill-building opportunities, and support to refugees in the UK. One participant shared their experience:
“I am incredibly grateful for the mentorship I received. My mentor made me feel fully supported, and I knew I could rely on her. Thanks to the skills and knowledge she shared during our sessions, I felt much more confident in my first job interview—and I’m happy to say I secured the job! What I especially appreciated was the structured approach in each meeting. It gave me a sense of agency and control, which was empowering.”
Beacon’s structured mentorship approach offers a clear pathway for participants to take ownership of their journey, ensuring they are not only prepared for employment but are also building sustainable futures.
What makes Beacon unique?
Beacon is a comprehensive app that offers refugees personalised information and services in their own languages. It provides support in key areas such as employment, accommodation, healthcare, and education. One of the most powerful features of Beacon is the ability to pair refugees with professionals from leading companies, where mentors are provided with resources and training in Beacon and equipped to help guide refugees through job applications, interviews, and skill development, making a tangible impact on their futures.
The path forward
The initial success of this pilot demonstrates the immense potential of the app and how it can enable in-person mentoring and support. As we continue to expand Beacon and move towards a UK roll out in 2025, we are excited by it's potential to impact tens of millions of displaced people worldwide.
Stay tuned for more updates as we prepare to launch Beacon later this year, and see how we’re working to create a brighter future for displaced communities worldwide.
